Welcome to MLH Localhost

Localhost is a great way to build your tech skills and hang out with the hacker community. If you'd like to attend the workshop all you need to do is register on this page and check the page again an hour before the event begins. You'll find the link to the Zoom as well as a bunch of resources for the workshop!

Participants in this workshop will learn about IBM Z, the enterprise platform for high volume workloads and full-data encryption. They’ll log into a live system, explore the environment, and process data.

IBM Z is the powerful enterprise computing platform that 71% of Fortune 500 companies depend on for their success. In addition to z/OS, IBM Z runs Linux, runs Docker containers, and plays well with other open solutions.

Hands-on mainframe experience

Participants will be logging into a live mainframe and performing tasks designed to build real-world skills. This hands-on experience will set participants up with the educational foundation needed to excel on this platform built specifically for business.

Operating on z/OS

This workshop focuses on z/OS, an operating system favored by businesses with high requirements for availability, accuracy, and security. z/OS is the home of enterprise software, including CICS, which serves up 30 billion transactions a day.

Requirements / Prerequisites

Participants will need to get connected to a system and install software needed to complete the challenges.

Required Access:
- Pre-register for the Master the Mainframe 2020 Contest.

Required Software:
- 3270 Emulator (ex: tn3270) – Used to access system
(System Requirements and no prior mainframe experience fine as is)
