Event Description

This weekend is all about building hacks for socials. Support influencers and small businesses by creating projects for marketing and personal branding or go big by creating your own social media platform! Join us for an incredible celebration of hacking, mini-events, and workshops! We also want to give a special thanks to Forem for being a flagship sponsor of SelfieHacks.

Forem is open source software that allows you to self-host your own online community – on your terms. Their freely-available setup instructions will help you sharpen your sysadmin skills and once you’re up-and-running, you can put on your UX hat to customize your new space and welcome members however you like.

Forem’s challenge to you? Spin up a new self-hosted Forem community using their instructions and make the space your own. Each member of the winning team will receive a $100 credit to the DEV Shop. In addition, each of you will receive a unique DEV profile badge just for your participation.

That being said, these events are open to all skill levels, from beginners to the most veteran developers. While we'd love to have you build something on the theme, our themes are only here for inspiration. As always, build whatever you'd like!
